Abstract

This work investigates the relationships between community radio and their audiences in the Department of Nariño, Colombia, considering Latin American and European experiences, and participation as a key element for social sustainability. The aim is to investigate whether the participation of citizens in the production, diffusion and radio management has been supported or not. Methodologically, we follow a mixed design that combined the results of two questionnaires: one, applied to 632 people from eleven municipalities; and the second, to eleven directors of communal stations. This was complemented with information provided by eleven groups composed of radio broadcasters, publishers and producers. One key finding within the audiences is that they recognize a radio station as a tool to enhance sociocultural dynamics in the region. As to the directors of stations, it was found that they didn't encourage active participation with communities. It seems that the absence of active and critical participation on the part of the audiences is due to an organizational and radio production model that mirrors the commercial one. In conclusion, these factors have limited the construction of democratic relations between communal broadcasters and their audiences; and especially, reduced the possibilities for citizens to participate as valid interlocutors in a local communicational project.

Conscients que la sostenibilitat abasta no només aspectes ambientals sinó també d' impacte social, abordarem la implicació dins de les organitzacions de la nova directiva CSDDD.

La nova legislació sobre diligència deguda, CSDDD (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive), aprovada per la Unió Europea l'abril de 2024, representa un canvi significatiu en el panorama empresarial cap a un futur més responsable i sostenible per a les organitzacions.

De segur, tindrà una gran rellevància en la gestió interna de les organitzacions ja que exigeix que prenguin mesures per identificar, prevenir i mitigar els impactes negatius de les seves activitats i operacions comercials al llarg de tota la cadena de valor. Una bona implementació de la CSDDD pot aportar també diversos beneficis a les organitzacions, tant en termes econòmics com socials i ambientals.

Per aconseguir tot això, les empreses hauran de desenvolupar polítiques internes que assegurin el compliment dels requisits establerts a la llei CSDDD: caldrà millorar la transparència i la comunicació amb les parts interessades, la col·laboració amb empleats, comunitats locals i organitzacions de la societat civil, enfortir les estructures de governança, etc. Però sobretot, les empreses hauran de realitzar avaluacions rigoroses i millorar la seva gestió de la cadena de subministrament (dels seus proveïdors) per assegurar-se que compleixen amb els estàndards de drets humans i sostenibilitat ambiental.

D'altra banda, l'aplicació d'aquestes mesures també pot significar noves oportunitats per a les organitzacions, com una major confiança dels consumidors i una millor gestió de riscos. A més, la inversió en tecnologies i pràctiques sostenibles ajudarà a construir organitacions més eficients i compromeses amb la sostenibilitat.
