- Full Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), acting also as a representative member of the Technological and Geophysical Faculty at the Highest University Councils. Member of the Graduate Program on Civil Engineering and the Graduate Program on Mechanical Engineering.
- Director of the Integrated Laboratories on Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Technology (LITPEG-UFPE).
- Leader of High Performance Computing on Computational Mechanics Group (PADMEC) and previously acted as the Coordinator of the Committee for creation and later as a member of the Consultant Council of the National Center for High Performance Computation at Pernambuco (CENAPAD-PE).
- Research Fellow from the Brazilian National Scientific Research Council (CNPq) since 1998, with previous participation as a member of the Mechanical, Navy and Aerospace Advisor Council (CA-EM).
- Member of the Brazilian Association on Computational Methods in Engineering (ABMEC) General Council.
- Brazilian representative in the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM) General Council.
- Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Modeling and Simulation for the Petroleum Industry.
- Member of the editorial board of the international journals International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids (IJNMF).
- Member of the editorial board of the Revista Internacional de Métodos Numéricos para Cálculo y Diseño en Ingeniería (RIMNI).
