He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (1986), a Master's in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of São Paulo - EESC - USP (1995), a PhD in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of São Paulo - FAU - USP (1999) and postdoctoral fellow at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia - Spain - Departamento de Ingeniería de la Construcción y Proyectos de Ingeniería Civil (2002/2003, 2006/2007 and 2010/2011). He is currently a professor at the Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho. He has experience in Civil Engineering, with emphasis on Alternative Construction Material, working mainly on the following topics: mortar, concrete, structural masonry, rubber residues, rice husk ash (CCA), sugarcane bagasse ash. sugar (CBC), sludge ash from wastewater treatment plants, bamboo and geopolymers.
